Financing of the GAC project
GAC is maintained by various ways:
One of the financial shortcomings of GAC is that the public funds provided by the city of Belo Horizonte cover only two thirds of the funds required to keep GAC running. Consequently, the financial gap must be filled with parent´s contributions and third party donations. The 2007 balance sheet shows that this is a tall order (see below). The monthly parents fee was originally established at: 30 R$ - Full day care (10 hrs) 22 R$ - Half day care (5 hrs) These monthly contributions stretch the parents to their absolute financial limit. As a consequence, parents are forced quite often to take their children out of GAC, because they can not afford the monthly fee. This leads to undesirable fluctuations. GAC wants by all means to prevent such attendance discontinuity, as it threatens the success of the whole educational program. Unfortunately, contributions from donations are presently unsufficient to close the financial gap. GAC itself has no resources to sensibilize the public regarding the social problems and poverty in its neighborhood. This is why "Kinderhorizonte e.V." was founded, and why this web page was created. Maintaining the GAC program and securing its future requires substantially increased donations. That way the dependence on uncertain parents´fees could be eliminated, or at least drastically reduced. Funds could be allocated and saved for future investments in the program.

Altough a one time donation is greatly appreciated, continuous long term financial support will be instrumental for GAC´s operation , future planning, and ultimate success. 100% of all donations will exclusively be used for the children aid project. Due to the simple structure of our organisation, the administrative cost are practically zero.
Balance sheet 2007 (Exchange rate: 1 Euro = 2,7 R$)
As per the above balance sheet the total 2006 operating costs were 340.000R$. With 222 children, this translates to R$ 1.500 per child per year. Or in other words: € 45 per child per month!
